Odisha establishes high-level Task Force to ensure smooth operation of Industries in the State – CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Apr 25 (UNI) The Odisha Government has undertaken several initiatives, including the establishment of a high-level task force, to ensure the smooth commissioning and operation of industries within the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced.

Addressing the Odisha State Roundtable at India Steel 2025, organized by the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, in collaboration with FICCI in Mumbai on Friday, Majhi reaffirmed Odisha’s position as the "Steel Capital of India" and emphasized the state’s critical role in advancing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

The session, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, showcased Odisha’s steel capabilities and future vision under the theme "Samruddha Odisha."

Discussions during the State Roundtable focused on expanding steel production and raw material supply, with the Chief Minister highlighting Odisha’s strategic advantages in the steel and metals sector.

The event was attended by more than 200 delegates from Mumbai-based steel sector industries.

Industry leaders from prominent firms such as Tata Steel, AMNS, JSW, JSL, and SAIL, among others, shared valuable insights and outlined their growth plans for Odisha during the roundtable.

Several other major companies, including Kalyani Steel, Shyam Steel, Shree Metaliks, Calderys India, and Sarvesh Refractories, represented by senior officials, also participated and discussed opportunities for industrial growth in Odisha in the coming years.

The session was also graced by Bobylev Petr, Director of Coal Industry Development, Ministry of Energy, Russian Federation, and Artem Ukolov, Head of the Oil and Gas Department, Russian Trade Commission. This was followed by a one-on-one meeting with the Chief Minister to explore potential avenues for collaboration between the two governments.

Majhi stated that Odisha is the largest producer of iron ore in India, playing a pivotal role in the success of the steel sector by contributing over 55 percent of the nation’s total iron ore production.

He further emphasized that the state is committed to meeting the specific needs of every industry operating in this vital sector—ranging from securing raw materials and providing encumbrance-free land to ensuring robust connectivity via road and rail and the provision of essential utilities such as electricity and water.

The Chief Minister added that the Odisha Government aims to develop a comprehensive metal-based manufacturing value chain, stretching from raw material extraction to the production of high-end engineering products.

He also announced that Odisha’s Vision 2036 for Industrial Development lays out an ambitious roadmap focused on strengthening both upstream and downstream linkages, and promoting engineering goods, mining machinery, transport systems, and components for the defense and aerospace sectors.
